![]() ![]() I worked in the ED department(s) in the hospital.I found my own housing and rent privately. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. Housing was located in city of Livermore. The name of the housing complex was Private home. Housing was approximately 30 mile(s) from the hospital. The regular floors are completely brand new as of April 2016, very nice. The hospital also just got upgraded to level 1, but no helipad. ![]() The area nearby is not safe, I lived 30 min away. Parking is a nightmare on day shift, evening shift is much better. I will be leaving here a much better nurse. They worked with our given skill sets, and even trained us to be able to do more. The operating room is a different beast, but the staff there were grateful to have us. I worked in the OR department(s) in the hospital.Housing was approximately 25 mile(s) from the hospital. Therefore the nurses have to stand the entire 13 hours except to go to the bathroom. I was told I would be written up if I sit at the nurses station. the best part, there are four chairs, the secretary and charge take two. They will send staff home the minute you discharge a patient and make you absorb their assignment before getting any kind of a break. All of this while you watch your charge nurses get 3 meals a day and sit around at the nurses station. Most days are without a lunch break or even 10 mins to stuff food down. The lack of work ethic and and organization from upper level management is actually atrocious. I floated almost every shift to their telemetry unit where I picked up 4/5 of their worst/most complex patients that they wouldn’t give to staff nurses. I worked in the ICU department(s) in the hospital.Other similar areas are Lakeshore, Piedmont, Adams Point, Rockridge, and Alameda. ![]() on Grand Avenue within walking distance from my home. Close to restaurants, wine bars, shops, gym, parks, etc. It was less than 2 miles to work but significantly safer area than the hospital location. I stayed near Lake Merritt, in Grand Lake neighborhood. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. The name of the housing complex was Grand Lake (neighborhood). Housing was approximately 1.5 mile(s) from the hospital. There is only 1 ICU in this facility so patients with complicated critical illnesses or those needing CRRT were transported to San Francisco. Travelers and even some staff were ineligible to care for the Neuro patients with shunts, cranial devices/drains or patients on multiple pressors due to hospital required training programs. The ICU is mainly trauma with some neuro cases. The ICU is renovated with modern monitoring technology, lift equipment, and charting (EPIC). Again, area where hospital is in can be sketchy and cars have been broken into on the hospital property. The employee parking lot is something like $50/month and I had my agency cover that, no problem. The medical staff and resident/fellow physicians were extremely polite and professional to work with. I felt that the supervisors and majority of staff were pleasant and welcoming to travelers, however select employees/groups of employees had a negative attitude towards travelers. I would ask that Travel Nursing Central consider a "N/A" option for a response as it would impact the overall rating of the hospital. I worked night shift and the cafeteria wasn't open during those hours so I cannot properly rate this section. The area that the hospital is in is not good, however there are several safe neighborhoods for housing. To what extent would you recommend this hospital to other travelers?
